Mulvaney scores with Down The Dales

County Meath trainer Michael Mulvaney was on the mark when his charge Down The Dale took the Baileys Breeders Handicap Hurdle under a fine ride by Tim Carroll.

Carroll produced the Strategic Choice gelding to lead after the third last.

The pair were soon clear and kept on well to score by a comfortable six lengths.

Winning trainer Mulvaney said afterwards: “He disappointed the last day over hurdles and Paddy Flood said he needed but blinkers but he didn’t perform well with them on the flat.”

“I think the secret to him was to get his jumping together. We schooled him over fences and I think that definitely helped.”

“We might look for a race at Galway for him a nice small one if there are any.”

“It’s great for the owners who have been very patient and they deserved a win.”
