Mary Salome has proved a great servant to owner/trainer Andrew Kinirons and recorded her sixth career win in the Roscommon Fillies Handicap.

The seven-year-old daughter of Zebedee, a 14/1 chance, made headway between horses to challenge a furlong out and kept on best in the closing stages under Luke McAteer to get the better of Bells On Her Toes by a neck. Vadiana was just half-a-length further back in third.

Kinirons said, “She had run 47 times and never ran here. It’s a track that would ideally suit her as she is sharp away and there is a long straight.

“Luke gave her a brilliant ride and won the same way on her in Listowel before.

“She loves a bit of hassle at the end of a race and he kept her among horses.

“She is in foal to Equiano and that’s why she hasn’t ran recently. She is a great mare for us and a great guide at home for work. We’ll keep running away until around Galway.”

McAteer is now just one away from riding out his claim following this 94th career win.
