Munro Lands Park Mount

Alan Munro has been booked to ride French raider Walk In The Park in next week´s Vodafone Derby at Epsom.

The 38-year-old only returned to the saddle at the beginning of the season after a four-year sabbatical in the Far East but he has quickly made his mark notching 19 winners to date.

Munro will be trying for a second win in the Derby after partnering Generous to victory in 1991 and Walk In The Park´s trainer John Hammond is pleased to have secured a jockey with experience of Epsom´s unique track.

'It is a big `plus´ to have a rider who has not only won the race, but who is also riding in terrific form,' Hammond told the Daily Telegraph.

Walk In The Park is a 20-1 shot with William Hill for the premier Classic after finishing second to Kong in the Lingfield Derby Trial earlier this month.

The Montjeu colt is due to make the trip from France tomorrow for a spin around Epsom with two lead horses at the Breakfast With The Stars event.

'The plan is for them to go around a mile and a quarter at a decent gallop.

It will give our colt the chance to experience Epsom before Derby Day,' Hammond added.
