Murphy Expecting Plenty Of Promise Another Promise could emerge as a live outsider for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup, according to his trainer Ferdy Murphy. After finishing fifth in the Arkle at Cheltenham, the nine-year-old claimed a Grade One prize at the Punchestown Festival.Despite that success coming over two miles, Murphy believes he will be seen to better effect over a longer trip.'I'm not sure if he's a two-miler or a three-miler. The trouble is to run him over three miles on his comeback run would probably be asking a lot,' said Murphy.'We will probably run him in the Game Spirit (Newbury, February 9), just to get a run into him but he is really well.'At the moment I think he is the one we will run in the Gold Cup, I just have to speak to his owners after his prep race.'It will depend on what Graham (Lee, jockey) has to say as well, he has a big input in to the yard. We are not going to go there unless we have a genuine chance of running well.'He came to us last year rated about 90 and we gradually stepped him up. He had enough runs and they are not machines.'He kept on improving so we just went ahead with him. We decided he would just have two runs before Cheltenham,' he told At The Races.Another Promise is 33-1 with Stan James for the Festival showpiece.(C) PA Sport
