Murtagh hoping Steinbeck steps up Johnny Murtagh is keeping his fingers crossed Steinbeck can overcome his inexperience in the Jumeirah Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. The Aidan O'Brien-trained juvenile may have been highly touted throughout the season, but his sole racecourse appearance came in a Naas maiden back in May. Although mightily impressive that day, Murtagh admits he has plenty on his plate as he steps up to Group One company on just his second start. "He's a very good horse and everyone knows what we think about him," said Murtagh. "Obviously it's going to be a big ask having his second ever run in a race like the Dewhurst, but we think he's up to it. "I think he's a nice horse and we'll find out where he fits into everything tomorrow."
