Murtagh thinks trip will suit Remember

Johnny Murtagh has high hopes for Remember When in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle pilot believes the drop back to 10 furlongs will suit the Aidan O'Brien-trained filly after she finished third in the Investec Oaks.

Remember When has yet to win a race but she has Classic form, having finished a close third in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her previous start.

"She'd only had a couple of runs before she went to Epsom, so it was a very good run," Murtagh told At The Races.

"Maybe she didn't stay the trip that day, so back to 10 furlongs at the Curragh will be ideal for her.

"She's a filly I like a lot, she's improved through the year and she should be competitive in what looks like a good Pretty Polly. She's going the right way and improving all the time."

Akdarena was three places behind Remember When in the Oaks. Jim Bolger's filly entered Classic contention after a ready victory in the Blue Wind Stakes at Naas.

She attempted her usual front-running tactics until weakening in the final furlong and her trainer has his fingers crossed the effort will not have taken its toll.

"She seems very well and is just about ready again after her run at Epsom," said Bolger.

"We're obviously hoping it will not have come too soon, but we're happy to go there."
