Mutafaweq heads Melbourne cup weights

Godolphin`s Mutafaweq heads the weights published today for the Tooheys New Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 6th.

The Coronation Cup winner has been allotted 58.5kg (approximately 9st 4lb) - which compares favourably to the 59.5kg he would have carried last year if he had taken his chance.

Leading Irish hopes include Luke Comer`s Chimes At Midnight (8-8) and Dermot Weld`s Mutakarrim (7-13).

Weld won this race in 1993 when Vintage Crop triumphed under Michael Kinane.

Guy Walter`s Tie The Knot is next in the handicap with 58kg (approx 9st 3lb).

French ace Mirio, winner of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on his latest start, will have to carry 57.5kg (approx 9-2), along with David Elsworth`s Persian Punch, third in this race in 1998.

Mark Johnston`s trio, Ascot Gold Cup winner Royal Rebel, Akbar and Double Honour, will carry approximately 9-0, 8-10, and 8-5 respectively.

As well as Mutafaweq, Godolphin have six other entries including Yorkshire Cup winner Marienbard (approx 8-11), and last season`s Tote Ebor victor Give The Slip (8-11).

John Dunlop`s San Sebastian (8-11) and Amanda Perrett`s Solo Mio (8-11) also figure prominently in the handicap, as do Sir Michael Stoute`s pair, Cover Up (8-4) and Dalampour (8-7).

The Barry Hills-trained Rainbow High has (8-10).
