Mutamam decision delayed

Connections will not make up their minds about Mutamam`s participation in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot until nearer to the race, it was revealed today.

The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned six-year-old made a winning reappearance in the Princess of Wales`s Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday and trainer Alec Stewart suggested afterwards that the July 28th showpiece would be his next target.

However, Stewart said that Mutamam`s participation had yet to be confirmed.

'He`s taken the race really well which has delighted me but there`s no decision about Ascot,' he reported.

'Now we will just watch him, see how he trains and then make a decision in about 10 days` time after I have spoken to Sheikh Hamdan. There are other options.'

The Tote make Mutamam a 16-1 chance behind 4-7 favourite Galileo in their betting for the mile-and-a-half contest.
