Natal formally trained by Paul Nicholls, made it a winning debut from his new stable after running out 1 1/2 length victory of the Cara Diamonds Chase under Denis O’Regan in the colours of James Callow.
Winning trainer James Lambe said afterwards, “He cost €26,000 at the Doncaster Sales and I thought he was the pick of the sale. I’m delighted for owner James Callow who is from Penrith in Scotland.”
“He was a very high class chaser (for Paul Nicholls) and I find him straight forward enough and he still retains a lot of ability and class. The main thing was to get him here sweet and well in himself.”
Lambe also added, “The plan now is to aim him for the James Nicholson chase at Down Royal in November.”
Lambe has saddled about 10 winners this season in England but Natal is his first winner in Ireland this season.
