Navan on Royal Kahala's agenda Peter Fahey is eyeing the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle in Navan next month for Royal Kahala's return to action. The six-year-old Flemensfirth mare went off favourite for the Grade 2 mares' novices' hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but came home ninth after which connections explained that she was unsuited by the good to soft going. Prior to Cheltenham, she ran up a sequence of three wide margin hurdle victories and a runner-up berth in a Grade 3 mares' novices' hurdle in February. The trainer said: “She’s in brilliant form. We had her away for a gallop in Tipperary recently and she came out of that well. We’re looking forward to getting her going but we need plenty of rain. “She might start off at Navan in the Lismullen as long as the ground is safe. She’ll definitely stay over hurdles this season. “We didn’t see the best of her towards the backend of last season and it would be mad to go over fences with her straight away even though she’s a big filly. “She had a few issues but the vets have done a good job with her. Even after Cheltenham we kept her in training for a couple of months to make sure everything was ironed out.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
