Navan will hold an inspection tomorrow afternoon ahead of Saturday’s fixture with the chase course currently unfit for racing.

Clerk of the Course Brian Hamilton gave an update this morning saying, “The prospects of racing at Navan are improving but the chase track remains unfit for racing at present. For that reason, we are calling a 2pm inspection on Friday afternoon.

“There has been 5mm of rain since entries here which has left us with over 90mm of rainfall in just over two weeks.

“Unfortunately, there is the possibility of further rain to come with Met Eireann suggesting we could get another 5mm prior to racing.

“The team here at Navan have been working hard all week on the track and we are also looking at repositioning fences slightly to get us onto a raceable line.

“I would say at this point 90 per cent of the chase track is fit for racing. The ground is heavy and we’ll have a further update after tomorrow’s inspection.”

The meeting is set to feature the Grade 2 BOYLE Sports Webster Cup Chase and the Grade 3 Flyingbolt Novice Chase.
