Nayef set to return in Gordon

Nayef, winter favourite for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas, is set to make his reappearance in the Peugeot Gordon Stakes at Goodwood next Tuesday.

The full-brother to Nashwan is one of 19 entries made today for the Group Three contest, which was won last year by John Dunlop`s subsequent Leger hero, Millenary.

Marcus Tregoning`s colt has been off the course since finishing eighth at Newmarket back in the spring.

Connections have given him time to strengthen up and trainer Marcus Tregoning today reported the colt to be 'an intended runner'.

'He has needed time to fill out, with hindsight he still had a lot of growing to do at the start of the season and he is looking really good now,' he continued.

'We`re not looking further ahead than his next race but I am looking forward to seeing him back on the racecourse.

'The step up to a mile and a half shouldn`t be a problem and fast ground would be ideal.'

Godolphin`s Rothmans Royals St Leger candidate Wareed could have his prep-race for the final Classic in the race.

Other interesting entries include Luca Cumani`s Xtra and the John Gosden-trained trio, Hill Country, Sydenham and Theatre Script.
