Nell Gwyn shaping up well Unbeaten fillies Euro Charline, Pelerin and Folk Melody feature among 15 runners declared for the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday. Although none of the leading contenders for next month's Qipco 1000 Guineas line up in the Rowley Mile trial over seven furlongs, plenty will be aiming to earn a place in the first fillies' Classic of the season on May 4. Marco Botti's Euro Charline takes a significant step up in class following successive victories on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, while the Italian trainer also saddles Pelerin, who looked the part when making a winning debut at Kempton in October. Charlie Appleby-trained Godolphin filly Folk Melody has not been seen in competitive action since her impressive display in a July Course maiden last summer and is joined by stable companion Majeyda. Sandiva is a major player for leading northern-based trainer Richard Fahey, while it would be dangerous to rule out John Gosden's Dorothy B given the trainer's scintillating early-season form. Sir Michael Stoute's Along Again, David Simcock's Artistic Charm and the Charlie Hills-trained Queen Catrine are others in the Group Three contest.
