Newbrook Diamond wins Wexford's opener Second-season novice Newbrook Diamond (11/4jf) scored easily on his first start of the new season today, landing Wexford’s opening Shamrock Enterprises Maiden Hurdle for jockey Danny Gilligan, trainer Gordon Elliott and owners KTDA Racing & Nick Courtney. Winner of a point-to-point for Adrian Murray in March 2025 before selling to current connections for £75,000, the son of Balko had failed in seven previous maiden hurdle attempts but nonetheless had shown form in smart winter contests. Today, under Gilligan, Newbrook Diamond made all the running and scored eased-down from 118-rated Fou De Toi .
