Newcastle Wednesday inspection Officials at Newcastle have called an 8am precautionary inspection ahead of Wednesday's meeting. The going at the track is currently reported to be good to soft, soft in places but temperatures are forecast to dip overnight. Clerk of the course James Armstrong said: "It is very much precautionary as we are absolutely fine at the moment. "The wind has dropped and it is forecast to be a fairly cool day today, then it could drop to between zero and minus 1C overnight. The temperatures aren't set to get very high tomorrow so we've called the inspection to cover our backs really. "There's also talk of wintry showers so we will just keep an eye on things and keep everyone in the loop, but we are optimistic. "The wind is forecast to pick up again late tomorrow morning so we will be monitoring that too."
