Newtown Anner Stud's Villaray (4/1) made it third time lucky today, landing Navan's opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden on her first attempt competing over six furlongs.

Villaray's two previous starts had come over seven furlongs and, today under Colin Keane, got the better of Miss Mona Keeba by a neck.

Winning trainer Ger Lyons said "I just wasn't happy with her until now so I dropped her back in trip, and that is what I was seeing at home.

“We have obviously got the best of the ground so far, it is yielding and will probably be soft as the day goes on, but Showcasing's (sire) in general can do that.

"We have given her time, her form has worked out the last day and I think she will go seven furlongs next year."

Owners Newtown Anner Stud later completed a two-countries double, as another Showcasing-sired juvenile filly Cinematic scored on debut at Newmarket.
