Nicholas heads Coronation seven

St Nicholas Abbey features among just seven possible runners in the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom on Friday following the confirmation stage.

The much-vaunted colt enjoyed a brilliant unbeaten juvenile campaign but disappointed in the 2000 Guineas on his sole start as a three-year-old.

His comeback third at the Curragh suggested he was not the force of old, but he looked right back to his best when annihilating the opposition in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester last time.

His trainer Aidan O'Brien has also entered Huxley Stakes hero Await The Dawn, as well as Cape Blanco, while James Given is set to saddle his two stable stars Dandino and Indian Days.

Henry Cecil's multiple Group One-winning mare Midday is set to pit her wits against the boys having made a successful reappearance in the Middleton Stakes at York, while Clowance from the Roger Charlton yard completes the field.

Paddy Power have installed St Nicholas Abbey as the 11-10 favourite with Midday a 2-1 chance.
