John McConnell is keen to test Nick Lost over marathon trips with the 11-year-old gelding holding an entry in the North Yorkshire Grand National Handicap Chase at Catterick on Thursday.

He would be up in trip for this extended 3m5f assignment, but the trainer believes it could be within his wheelhouse.

"He's just a galloper and it might suit him. If he doesn't go there, he will go for one of those sort of races. He might go back for a cross-country race at some point as well," McConnell said.

"He'll have a few entries. There's a good chance he will go (to Catterick).

"I definitely think that is his trip; he's a relentless, one paced kind of horse. It could open up further options for him.

"As far as I know, Ben (Harvey, regular jockey) is away skiing, so it will probably be someone in England, maybe one of the Bowens."

Nick Lost's three career victories came in a golden spell over hurdles and fences between May and July 2018 for his previous handler Stephen McConville.
