Ninth Legion routs opposition

Well backed Ninth Legion (3/1 – 2/1) ran out the easy winner of the Ferrycarraig Maiden Hurdle at Wexford this evening, providing trainer Conor O’Dwyer with his third winner of the new season.

Ridden by Davy Russell, the son of Presenting moved to the front from three out, staying on strongly for an easy win over Winston Churchill

Afterwards O’Dwyer stated “he should win a few for us over the summer and is one to look forward to. He has one bad run at Punchestown but scoped bad after that run. Today’s ground was bordering on slow for him and he is better over further and on faster ground.”

“He is a smashing jumper of a fence and hopeful we’ll have a few good summers with him. He won’t be seen in the winter and might now go to Galway.”
