Even money favourite Definite Class made all to win the opening 1912-2012 Tramore Racecourse Centenary Year (Ladies) Maiden at Tramore today, scoring for trainer Dessie Hughes and jockey Nina Carberry.

The daughter of Definite Article, a five time National Hunt winner, was tackling the Flat for the first time and was sent into an early lead by Carberry. Carberry asked the mare to quicken in the dip and the pair stayed on well inside the final furlong to hold the challenge of Flying Light by half a length.

Afterwards Hughes stated “she was expected to do that and has now won a bumper, hurdle, chase and now on the Flat - she is a fabulous mare.

“She'll stay over fences now for the summer and if the handicapper gives her a reasonable mark, she could do well in two miles chases.”
