Plans remain fluid for Bedrock after connections sidestepped the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown on Saturday.
Having landed a Grade Three prize at Tipperary in October, the five-year-old caused a big upset in the WKD Hurdle at Down Royal the following month by inflicting a shock defeat on Samcro.
He was ruled out of an intended appearance in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle following a setback on the eve of the race, and although he returned to Ireland this week, he was taken out of the Grade One affair.
The Scottish trainer was on Sunday morning wondering what might have been after Sharjah — who was always behind him at Down Royal — claimed victory to add to his previous triumph in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown.
Jardine said: “We took him over and I just wasn’t happy with him. I didn’t want to take a chance and there’ll be another day.
“We’ll never now what would have happened. Obviously we’ve beaten the winner this season. Whether we’d have beaten him again, who knows?”
Bedrock was purchased by American owner Irvin Naylor following his Down Royal win and is due to cross the Atlantic to resume his career Stateside at some stage.
Whether he will run again in Britain beforehand remains to be seen.
“I’m not sure what the plan is at this stage. I need to discuss it with the owners,” Jardine added.
“He is due to go to America at some point, but all that still needs to be discussed.”
Bedrock is a best-priced 40-1 for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
