Battle Of Marengo won the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes to justify odds of 4/9 at the Curragh (bringing up a double for Ballydoyle after Magical Dream ).

Joseph O'Brien moved back to within one of Pat Smullen in the race to be champion jockey when guiding the successful Galileo colt to a smooth three and a half length victory over Orgilgo Bay . Smullen (75 to 74 leader over O'Brien) rode the third placed Muaanid who was a head back.

Trainer of Battle Of Marengo, Aidan O'Brien said: "You'd have to be delighted with that especially considering Joseph said he hated the ground.

"He'd be a possible for the race in Doncaster (the Racing Post Trophy) although he's done plenty this year and he doesn't need to run again."

Ladbrokes go 16/1 from 20/1 Battle Of Marengo for the 2013 Epsom Derby.

Paddy Powers have introduced Battle Of Marengo at 20/1 for the 2013 Newmarket 2000 Guineas. They leave him at 16/1 for the Derby.

Stan James are unchanged at 16/1 for the Derby and 25/1 from 33s for the 2000 Guineas. (AM & EM)
