Officials at Haydock have been able to give this afternoon's quality fixture the green light before a scheduled 8am inspection.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright announced the precautionary check on Friday morning due to the forecast of sub-zero temperatures and potential snow, but the Merseyside venue enjoyed a relatively frost-free night.

Tellwright said: "We've given it the go-ahead."

He added: "We had a light frost overnight and it's still cold now, but it's not going to cause us any problems."
