No rush for Halford plans Mick Halford is keen to let the dust settle on Royal Ascot before making future plans for his runners at the showpiece meeting. The County Kildare-based trainer sent four runners to the Berkshire circuit, with Toscanini faring the best of them by finishing a close fourth in Wednesday's Jersey Stakes. The most disappointing performance came from Tonkinese, who was a leading contender for the opening Chesham Stakes on Saturday, but finished last of the 12 runners. "He (Tonkinese) is just on his way home and we'll see how he is when he gets here, but he seemed fine after the race," said Halford. "He got badly interfered with and never really recovered. "It's been a busy week and it's too early to think about where we'll head next with him. "Toscanini ran very well, the race just unfolded a bit early for him. "We'll sit down this week and make a plan for him."
