Noble completes his Mission at Newmarket Noble Mission's Investec Derby dream is still alive after the market leader landed the Qatar Racing Newmarket Stakes. Better known as the brother to the brilliant Frankel, Noble Mission is a very different type but proved in this 10 furlong Listed contest that he's no slouch himself. The son of Galileo was stepping up in trip after two runs over a mile and raced in a share of third for much of a tactical affair with Mister Music cutting out the pace. The order remained more or less unchanged until inside the final half a mile as those to the rear began to manoeuvre for position with the well-regarded Stencive and Mariner's Cross making positive moves. The race turned into something of a sprint and Frankie Dettori and Wood Ditton winner Mariner's Cross got first run with Noble Mission held in by the newcomer Michelangelo but Tom Queally eventually saw daylight aboard the Sir Henry Cecil-trained colt and the pair picked up well in the centre of the track. The favourite picked up well to win a shade cosily by a neck with Michelangelo, a 550,000 guineas purchase, running a blinder on his racecourse bow back in third. The winning trainer said: "It was a funny race, they crawled and then sprinted on soft ground. He did well, he's a horse who's learning and he will improve. "He's not there yet and he'll need another race before we decide where to go next. He's in the Dante but I don't want to fly too high too soon. You want to fly high at the end."
