Noseda Aims Both Barrels

Jeremy Noseda saddles two of the leading contenders in tomorrow´s Darley July Cup in Soldier´s Tale and Balmont - and he expects a big run from both.

The former has developed into a useful sprinter and is the current second favourite for the Group One contest, while Balmont was third in the race last year.

'They are both in great form,' Noseda told At The Races.

'They are approaching the race exactly as I would like them and I feel they will put in a good, bold showing.

'I am looking forward to it and just hope they give their running on the day and get a little bit of luck in running. Then I am sure we will be involved at the business end of the race.'

Balmont, who was recently third in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, has been draw 12 of the 20 runners, while Solder´s Tale will race from stall 14.

Noseda continued: 'Walking the track it seems that the draw is pretty even from one side to the other. I don´t think it is really an issue.

'The biggest issue is that for both of my horses there is plenty of pace around, so I hope we will get a fair run of the race.'

A maximum field of 20 has been declared for the the six-furlong event, including Iffraaj, trained by Michael Jarvis. He is the 100-30 favourite with Coral after winning the Wokingham last time.
