Having been on the scoresheet earlier, Danny Mullins doubled up when partnering the Bill Lanigan trained Not So Serious to win Division l of the Sweeney Oil Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Pulled up on his last three starts, the Kingston Hill gelding was sent off 50/1. Sporting first-time cheekpieces, the five-year-old travelled strongly on the heels of the leaders.

Landing in front after jumping the final flight, the outsider asserted entering the straight and found plenty when challenged on the run-in to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Danny Mullins said: "I asked Billy if I could make my own plan, and he didn't mind, but I nearly fell off him at the first, so the plan became poison, and I had to change plans a couple of times later in the race as well.

"He delivered a few good jumps on the last circuit and, although I thought we were vulnerable on the home turn, once I got him balanced, he hit the line well.

"Billy always thought there was something there, and maybe summer ground and a bit of a trip has helped.

"These smaller trainers are very important to me at this time of year, I might struggle for rides without them.

"I've got three for Barry John Foley at Colonial Downs tomorrow, and then back for Kilbeggan on Friday."
