Not without a scare but Tintangle gives Elliott a Clonmel brace

What she gave away by hanging left, she made up for by pinging the final couple of fences as Tintangle doubled Gordon Elliott’s score in the Clonmel Oil Chase Day November 14th Mares Chase at Powerstown Park.

Davy Russell won the opener on Elliott’s Ard Abhainn but it was Rachael Blackmore doing the steering on Gigginstown House Stud’s Tintangle.

Gigginstown and Elliott’s Barra missed out on her assignment here owing to a temperature and Tintangle headed the betting in the four runner affair at odds of 11/8.

Those that sent her off at that price got a real fright as she threatened to run out between the final couple of fences. All was well that ended well though, as she eventually accounted for The Caddy Rose (7/2 into 9/4) by two and a half lengths.

"She is a good mare but has a lot of quirks. We didn't want to make the running but there was nobody to make the running and you could see jumping off she didn't want to be in front," said Elliott.

"She has an engine but she would be better with a lead and hopefully in better races there will be something to make it.

"In fairness to her she tried to run out but still winged it. It's not the jumping that's the problem it's the in between. I thought she was gone at the last."
