Notre Pere Out of Aintree National

Coral Welsh National hero Notre Pere has been officially scratched from the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree next month.

The Jim Dreaper-trained eight-year-old ran a fine race to chase home Neptune Collonges in the Irish Hennessy before a minor setback ruled him out of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

He had been a general 25-1 chance for the Liverpool showpiece.

Dreaper still hopes to get Notre Pere ready to run in either the Irish or Scottish Grand National.

"It appears to be a minor thing and we are just getting going with him again. It was just very badly-timed," said the County Dublin trainer.

"If he's OK he'll run in either the Irish or the Scottish National."
