Notre Pere to take on Kauto Star Notre Pere is on course for a clash with Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday after pleasing connections in a schooling session. Last season's Welsh National and Punchestown Gold Cup winner is in good shape after an uncharacteristic fall in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal earlier this month. "It went fine this morning, so all being well it will be Haydock on Saturday," said trainer Jim Dreaper. "The ground looks as though it is going to be in his favour. "What happened at Down Royal was one of those things. Unfortunately it does happen, but thankfully everyone walked away in one piece, so all being well we'll be there on Saturday." Notre Pere is second-favourite at around 9-4 behind dual Gold Cup hero Kauto Star to take the honours at the Merseyside track.
