Novice completes maximum six The Liam Lennon trained Lord Multifix took a somewhat roundabout route to becoming this year’s first horse to win the maximum six point to point races in one season, when winning the Open Lightweight (for Lady Riders) at Largy point to point on Friday. The son of Winged Love was unsuccessful 11 times (best finishing position was third) before Lennon turned the novice's attention to point to pointing last Autumn. Lord Multifix’s debut ‘between the flags’ was a second place finish in a maiden at Toomebridge in September ’10, but won on his next two starts under James Smyth. Jamie Codd took over from the injured Smyth to win the gelding’s next three ‘points’ before Lisa O’Neill ‘potted the black’ in Largy’s Ladies Open on Friday, for the maximum break. Lennon stated “Lord Multifix was bred by my brother Declan and has progressed in point to points all year. He never had any luck on the track and was unlucky not to have run as much over his best trip.” “He is versatile ground-wise and will either go to Fairyhouse or Punchestown next for a hunters chase – he’ll stay point to pointing again next year.” Thomas Weekes
