Novice targets for Spring Heeled Jim Culloty is planning a move away from handicap company with last week’s Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Chase winner Spring Heeled. The Old Vic gelding initiated a memorable few days at the Cheltenham Festival for connections, who were also successful in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup with Lord Windermere. The seven-year-old appreciated the much improved ground at Cheltenham when making most of the running under Robbie McNamara, and Culloty is now eyeing up a crack at Graded company next month. “We gave him an entry in the Topham but we have changed our minds since and are favouring going down the novice route instead. “The Powers Gold Cup is an option. He might be boxing above his weight but he’ll get an entry, and he will run again this season as he likes top of the ground,” said Culloty. (AM & TW)
