Roman Numeral followed up his recent success at Tramore with a hard fought victory in the two-mile handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan.

Eoin Doyle's charge landed a nice touch, returning an 11/4 shot having traded at 7/1 this morning.

Mikey Butler drove his mount up to challenge Luimneach Abu at the second last flight and he did well to survive a mistake at the last.

Roman Numeral appeared to bump into his rival on the run-in but was on top close home to record a two-and-a-quarter length win.

“He'll continue in handicaps and I'm sure the handicapper will get hold of him eventually,” said Doyle. Swiftmarc was sent off the 5/2 favourite to follow up on his chase success at Clonmel earlier in the month but could only finish fifth.
