Kizlyar refused to give best to his rivals as he brought up a double for Joseph O'Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle in the Killarney Racegoers Club Race over an extended 1m6f.

The front-runner was well off the bridle at the '2' pole but didn't shirk the task ahead.

He was tough off the front, but Sky Captain moved closer passing the furlong marker although he couldn't quite get on terms.

Kizlyar didn't break stride as he gamely saw it out by three-quarters of a length at 11/1 from the 6/5 favourite.

Browne McMonagle said: "That was my first time riding him and he was tough. He relaxed well in front, he stays well and I always felt that I would hold on.

"Billy (Lee on Sky Captain) was challenging and had every chance to go past, but I never felt that he would get beaten and he was good and tough.

"If he bounced back to what he had been (in France where he won a maiden at Compiegne), he was always going to be competitive and he felt nice, so hopefully can keep progressing."

Browne McMonagle and O'Brien bookended the card as they also took the opener with Alphonsus Liguori (2/5f).
