The Joseph O'Brien trained Star Prospect looked a smart juvenile when quickening up well to win the opening Arizona Blaze Standing At The Irish National Stud Irish EBF Race at the Curragh.

Sent off 9/2 under Joey Sheridan, the John C Oxley owned son of Starman tracked the leaders in the initial stages before producing a blistering turn of foot to mow down his rivals inside the final furlong.

At the line, Star Prospect had one-and-a-quarter lengths to spare over Carry The Flag

“It’s always nice when your first two-year-old runner runs well,” said O’Brien. “He had been showing plenty of natural speed.

“He was green enough and off the bridle but I thought he was very impressive to the line.

“I don’t think he’d be going further than five at the moment.

“I think he’s a horse that’s made for the Norfolk, or something like that. It’s all speed.

“I think he’ll have a run before now and then. Something like the First Flier here (on May 4th).”
