Aidan O'Brien was delighted with the debut performance of the impeccably-bred James Cook at Naas on Sunday.

The juvenile colt is a son of Galileo out of the top-class racemare Red Evie, making him a full-brother to Breeders' Cup Turf and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Found.

James Cook was unsurprisingly among the market principals for his racecourse introduction in a seven-furlong maiden and there was a lot to like about the way he came home to finish second behind the Ger Lyons-trained Mcmunigal.

O'Brien said: "We were very happy with him. He was very raw and very green early, but when he got it together he came home well.

"He ran a very good race for being as raw as he was, so we look forward to him the next time."

James Cook is entered in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 28.
