Viking Invasion won a battle with In My Teens at the end of an extended 10-furlongs in the Lecarrow Race at Roscommon to bring up a double for Joseph O'Brien.

In My Teens, the 11/10 favourite, was more than keen for a good chunk of the race and although she travelled all over her rivals in the final quarter of a mile, she didn't find as much as Gary Carroll needed when she led outside the final furlong.

Viking Invasion found for pressure and came to head In My Teens inside the final furlong albeit while rolling in on her.

Declan McDonogh did what he could to straighten his lugging mount, but close home his mount bumped In My Teens before beating her by a neck. The pair drew four-and-a-half-lengths clear of third-placed Vorfreude (4/1).

A stewards enquiry was called into possible interference and the result stood.

Stable representative Michael Halford said: “He loved the ground.

"We’ll see where he goes now, he’ll probably be gone in handicaps.

“It looks like he’s still progressive. He’s had good form, the form to win that, and I think the ground made the difference to him.”

O'Brien was also on the board with Summer Is Tomorrow (7/4f) in the opener.
