O'Brien sets his sights on St Leger Aidan O'Brien has set his sights on the St Leger at Doncaster after his three runners in the Investec Derby performed with credit without being able to put in a serious challenge. Giovanni Canaletto fared best of the trio, staying on stoutly down the home straight to finish fourth in the hands of Ryan Moore. Chester Vase winner Hans Holbein was at the head of affairs in the early part of the Classic before fading to finish seventh, one place behind Lingfield Trial hero Kilimanjaro. The Ballydoyle handler said of Giovanni Canaletto: "The horse's preparation wasn't perfect and we would have loved to have taken him to Chester for the race there. "He is a really big baby and another run would have been ideal in helping him gain a bit of racecourse experience. "He is a horse with potential and it was a good race. He came home really well and will stay much further. "Giovanni Canaletto and our other two horses will all be confident in getting the St Leger trip so that is a race we will look at.'' Kilimanjaro stayed on past beaten horses and O'Brien added: "He is a nice horse who will stay further. "A step up in trip will really suit him and there should be some nice progress to come from him. Kilimanjaro could be a horse suited by the St Leger trip.'' Of Hans Holbein, he went on: "He ran well. We didn't aim to stretch Golden Horn's stamina and his performance showed he saw it out very well. "Hans Holbein is a horse who will enjoy a step up in trip and will stay further - the St Leger at Doncaster could be a target."
