O'Brien targets Tattersalls Millions

Waterloo Bridge has his first race since Royal Ascot when he goes for big money in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy at Newmarket on Saturday.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien reports the Zoffany colt, who was last seen winning the Norfolk Stakes in June, ready to return to action in one of Europe's most valuable two-year-old races.

"Waterloo Bridge hasn't run since winning at Royal Ascot but has done well over the summer and while he hasn't raced for a while, we think he has improved," said O'Brien.

The first and fourth home in the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy, Zhui Feng and Nimr, line up again, while other contenders include the Hugo Palmer-trained Gifted Master and East Indies from John Gosden's stable.

With prize money down to 10th and with just 14 runners, trainer Richard Hannon is hoping to pick up some of the cash with Bigger And Better and Fashaak.

"While our two runners will be outsiders, hopefully they can return with some prize money," Hannon told his website.

"Fashaak showed promise in both his runs, at Doncaster and Newmarket, while Bigger And Better is a lovely looking colt who needed his first race and has sharpened up considerably for it."

O'Brien is also looking to collect in the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies' Trophy as he brings Alice Springs back to Headquarters just a week after her run in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

The daughter of Galileo has been campaigned in Pattern company since winning a Curragh maiden on her debut in June and her latest effort saw her finish fourth to Lumiere in the six-furlong Group One.

"Alice Springs came out of the Cheveley Park in great form so she'll take her chance in an open-looking race. She is tough and consistent and we're hopeful of another good run," said the Ballydoyle trainer.

There is a second Irish raider in the shape of David Wachman's Clear Skies, who was fifth in the Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes on her last outing.

Heading the home team is Sir Michael Stoute's Engage, who made a winning debut at Doncaster in August in the colours of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
