Donnacha O'Brien has decided to appeal against the three days whip ban imposed by the stewards at Fairyhouse on Wednesday evening.

The leading apprentice was judged to be in breach of rule 10(3)(b) on Ruby Gates, who finished eighth of 12 behind Sister Blandina in the La Bucca Restaurants Handicap.

The stewards felt O'Brien had unnecessarily used his whip after his chance of winning or being placed on the filly was clearly gone.
