O'Callaghan considers Emergency options

Unbeaten juvenile State Of Emergency could skip the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh on May 23 and head straight to Royal Ascot.

The Dandy Man colt has won both his starts at the County Kildare circuit in heavy ground this year, but trainer Michael O'Callaghan is convinced his youngster will be even better on a sounder surface.

"He came out of the race absolutely great, I couldn't be happier with him and he licked his pot," said O'Callaghan.

"We had to have him back riding out on Wednesday he was so well.

"I can't wait to run him on better ground. We've had him on it at home a couple of times and he's shown a real liking for it as he's got a great turn of foot.

"All he's shown us in his races so far is that he's willing and has a big heart. He's not been able to show his ability and pace that we know he's got.

"It will be nice to step him up to six furlongs, but so far he's well able to do it over five.

"When you have a two-year-old like him, the ultimate aim is always Royal Ascot and the Coventry is a possibility at this stage.

"If something happens in the interim to make us change our minds we could look at one of the other races.

"He could go to the Marble Hill before then, it's if we decide he needs to.

"If the race was next week there'd be no reason not to run him but it's whether we think he needs to run again, and I don't think he does."
