O'Flynn's homebred building a progressive profile On the mark earlier with juvenile debutant Value Pending, Joseph O’Brien completed a Dundalk double when Kilcrea Rock (4/1) took the Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Now Apprentice Handicap over a mile and a half. A maiden winner here in May, Michael O’Flynn’s homebred son of Wootton Bassett was fitted with a visor for the first time. Having raced a little keenly behind the leaders, Shay Wallace moved the four-year-old into second place at halfway. In front travelling well over a furlong out, he scored by a comfortable length and a quarter from Merlin The Wizard. “I felt we were going a little bit slow down the back and I thought my only way to have a chance of winning was to sit three-parts off the leader and make the pace go on a little bit more,” said Wallace “That helped him, I think. He had time to think and had a bit of room for himself. “He picked off the leader well, battled hard to the line, and won well. “I think the visor helped him later on in the race, when I needed him from the one to the winning post, just to help him concentrate a bit more. “He’s done that smartly, so hopefully we can get a few more out of him.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
