O'Sullivan completes Galway double Alan O’Sullivan edged ahead in the conditional jockeys’ championship today, as the 5lb claimer completed a Galway-double on the Tony Mullins-trained Pauls Dream (9/2) in the Deacy Gilligan Hurdle. Earlier successful on John Nallen’s Firebrand in the opening race, O’Sullivan produced the seven-year-old mare with perfect timing to lead at the last, with the pair scoring readily from Grann’s Boy . It was O’Sullivan’s 14th success this season, which moves him one ahead of Eoghan Finegan in the conditional jockeys’ title, and regarding the Shoot A Hoop Syndicate-owned mare, Mullins mentioned “she has been a revelation and this is great because the owners are from Athlone, and are delighted to get a winner here. “I’ve had this mare’s family for years and they don’t really go on that ground so I was very worried about the ground. My confidence dropped a lot with the rain that fell in the last 15 minutes but Alan’s claim was invaluable. “She’s just amazing me, she’s improving all the time and is very straightforward. Maybe we’ll come back next year for the festival.” “We might look at a handicap in Listowel now but I don’t think we’d ask her if it was soft or heavy.
