Ross O'Sullivan is looking forward to travelling two horses to Liverpool for the Grand National Festival.

Eagles Reign ran an absolute stormer in second at 80/1 in the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival and will bid to go one better in the Alder Hey Handicap Hurdle at Aintree.

O’Sullivan said: “Eagles Reign runs on Friday all going well.

“He has a light weight and gets an 8lb allowance for being a four-year-old. It was hard to find a four-year-old only race for him, so he has to take on the older horses.

“The key to him will be the ground and it looks like it will be pretty soft over there. When it is testing, he comes into his own.

“He’s progressing and loves jumping. It spilled rain all night going into the Tuesday at Cheltenham and that gave him a great chance."

Bythesametoken enjoyed a trip across the Irish Sea when just beaten half a length into second at Haydock in December and is set for another journey on the ferry.

“Bythesametoken is in the two-mile chase. He’s in good form and the ground should be okay — plenty soft," said the trainer.

“He has a light weight on his back. It’s a tasty race, but the lads are mad keen to go and hopefully he runs respectable.

“It’s exciting to have the two runners and it is great to be going.”
