O'Brien battles his way to the top

Persistence paid off for Battleoftrafalgar as on outing number twelve the son of Galileo lost his maiden tag in the concluding Animalintex Maiden at the Curragh. The win put Joseph O’Brien level on 33 winners at the head of the apprentice championship.

O'Brien has two appeals and a referral to face tomorrow but he moved on terms with Gary Carroll and Ben Curtis by getting this favourite to front over a furlong out and he went on to see off Regresa A Mi by half a length.

O'Brien commented afterwards: "Please God things will go well for me tomorrow."
