Donnacha O’Brien edged one ahead (45-44) of Colin Keane in the jockeys title race when completing a double aboard Conclusion in the Roscommon Herald Handicap.

The son of Deep Impact needed plenty of encouragement throughout this mile and a quarter event and looked in trouble as Raphael threw down a strong challenge inside the final furlong.

However the 4/1 chance found plenty close home to complete a double on the evening for both O’Brien and his father Aidan, who were also on the mark earlier with Christmas

Raphael was eventually beaten three quarters of a length, with Mazzuri another length and a quarter back in third.

Donnacha O’Brien said, “He wasn’t doing a stroke the whole way around but when something came to me he found plenty. He has plenty of ability.”
