O'Connor makes the difference

Indifference Curve and Island Wood fought out a terrific finish to the Templemore Handicap Chase with the Mickey O'Connor trained and ridden gelding just prevailing in the closing strides.

Island Wood took it up approaching the final fence where he held a narrow advantage but Indifference Curve, despite drifting right on the run-in, just found a bit extra to prevail by half a length.

This success provided O'Connor with the 71st winner of his distinguished amateur riding career under rules. Skeheenarinky held every chance a further three lengths away in third.

O'Connor said, “I have him about three months but must give all the credit to previous trainer Margaret O'Sullivan who gave me a notebook on how to train the horse.”

The Liscarroll based trainer/rider has four to train for the track as well as ten point-to-pointers, and is chiefly supported by local owners Imelda Walsh and John Goggin.
