A host of fillies will head into battle and attempt to justify high expectations at 4.00pm on Friday in the Betfred Oaks at Epsom.

Journalist and broadcaster Johnny Ward was joined by former bookmaker Stephen Harris to preview all the action on the latest episode of the Irish Edge and served up an 11-2 tip in the fillies' Classic.

Harris makes a strong case for an Irish contender below and discusses why he can’t have the favourite Amelia Earhart

The forgotten filly

Thundering On is the one to side with around 11-2. She was so impressive with cut in the ground at Navan and she quickened up really smartly and powered over the line.

But what did she beat? That can also apply to the other two. And I quite like the fact, Johnny, that the front two in the market have won high-profile races that are on TV and the whole world's seen them, whereas Thundering On has won a little race that nobody's really watched unless you watch Racing TV at Navan and she really won impressively.

You know what's interesting about her as well? When she ran against Sky Dance at Leopardstown, Sky Dance is rated 106 and she was a hot favourite to beat Sky Dance in a maiden, and she showed why at Navan. It was so impressive, and the ground's no bother and she will definitely stay.

Legacy Link doubts

I've got the same things to say about Legacy Link - same colours - as I have about her.

It's York form on fast ground, she didn't really settle, she pulled hard, and she did see it out well enough in the end.

But A, I don't think the form's wonderful; B, the ground's going to be totally different; and C, I don't think she'll stay at the prices.

Of course, she's a progressive, likeable filly from one of the best UK trainers in the Gosdens. But at the prices I couldn't have her on form.

'Strange' race at Chester

Regarding the favourite Amelia Earhart, it was a very strange race at Chester. It was a match in the market.

I thought the Gosden horse was very highly regarded but the market went the other way late, and the Gosden filly got a very strange ride from Buick, disappeared into the Chester Champagne Bar turning for home and lost about six lengths!

I don't think the race that Amelia Earhart won at Chester was particularly strong.

I think Amelia Earhart will definitely stay, she's thoroughly tough, likeable and improving. I don't think she makes great appeal at 2-1.

I think Thundering On at around 5-1 looks bound to run well. And Joseph O’Brien has had 10 winners in the last fortnight, he's absolutely flying.
