Odyssey On The Sidelines

Light appears to have been shed on Olympian Odyssey's disappointing run in the Prix du Jockey Club after handler Barry Hills revealed subsequent tests have highlighted an injury.

The son of Sadler's Wells was unlucky not to have won the Feilden Stakes in April, and had been well-fancied for top honours in the Chantilly contest after finishing a gallant third behind runaway winner George Washington in the Stan James 2000 Guineas.

Explaining the nature of the injury, Hills said: 'He sustained a stress fracture on his off-fore, just above the knee.

'He just wants time now and he'll have plenty of box-rest to give the injury time to heal properly.

While future running plans very much depend on the speed of his recovery, Hills still has high hopes for the three-year-old and he may be seen in action again this year.

'Hopefully he'll be back in full work in September, and if everything goes to plan he could be back for the Champion Stakes at Newmarket', he said.
