The Henry De Bromhead trained Offshore Bay made all the running under Gary Carroll to open her account in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park.

An eye-catching seventh on her racecourse debut at Cork in April, the daughter of New Bay failed to back that up when mid division in a similar contest over this course and distance last month.

Sent straight to the head of affairs here, the 10/3 chance bowled along nicely until pressed by market leader Angelight early in the straight.

Ridden to assert over a furlong out, Offshore Bay kept on strongly to beat newcomer Walk The Highline by three-and-a-quarter lengths.

“I’m delighted with that. She did it nicely and I thought that Gary gave her a super ride,” said de Bromhead.

“I’d say she probably appreciates a bit of cut in the ground. We were a little bit disappointed with her the last day but I’d say she was feeling the better ground then.

“A nice ease in the ground suits her. I’m delighted for the owners. She stayed on well.

“We’ll see what the handicapper thinks and I think she’ll improve again.”
